It's always hard for people when a celebrity dies, especially if they were well liked. But I would've never anticipated the triple threat that has happened this week! Ed McMahon, second banana sidekick to Johnny Carson, died yesterday. Sure, Ed was old, but he was also well-liked. Every funny talk show host needs a straight man, and Ed McMahon was one of the best in the business. And he was one of the best talent show hosts with "Star Search" in the early 1980's to the early 1990's. If that wasn't bad enough, Farrah Fawcett died this morning. Now Farrah Fawcett was middle-aged, had cancer, but I didn't think that she was in danger of dying for a few more years! I personally felt she might have had a few more movies in her or something that would finish her career off with something big like she did with "Charlie's Angels." That was a crying shame in itself. But there was one piece of news that I've heard about, and it just metaphorically hit me like a brick wall. The shock news that Michael Jackson died this afternoon was one knockout punch that I would've never thought possible! The man who brought us "I Want You Back; ABC; Dancing Machine; Rock With You; Beat It; Thriller; Billiejean; We Are the World; Bad; The Way You Make Me Feel; Speed Demon; I Just Can't Stop Loving You; Smooth Criminal; Black Or White; Scream; You Are Not Alone" and more, was taken away from us because of a heart attack! I'm sorry, it's just so hard to take this news in. I suppose this might be the 21st century version of "The Day the Music Died." Just like in 1959, three celebrities were all struck down in their prime, all too soon and all too early. One thing is for sure, the music world won't be the same without them.
